In 2017 the Woonona Bulli Schoool of arts was able to give sponsorship and grants to two local charitable groups and organisations; SCARF and Hidden Harvest.
SCARF is a local refugee agency who help to support culture and diversity within the Wollongong region while supporting the refugee community in the Illawarra. Hidden Harvest are a local organisation/group who hold free events and stalls to educate the community about food waste and the environment.
This years sponsorship and grants have achieved our charity’s purposes of fulfilling a philanthropic role with the community.
The building was also able to host an awareness raising video for support of and Anti coal seam gas organisation – Knitting Nanas Against Gas.
The directors are currently organizing a first round free and subsidized mental health workshops working with adolescence violence and abuse prevention education; and creativity directed towards employment opportunities for young mothers.
We hope to create an ongoing yearly round of workshops using successful education programs both created by our organisation and in collaboration with other mental health programs and professionals such as the Love Bites program fun through Illawarra Women’s Health center. For more information on what the WBSOA has achieved this year please view our website > www.thewbsoa.com
