About this organisation

The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of QLD officially came into being as a social club on the 17 December 1977.

In 1991, the RRCQ became an incorporated body with the QLD Department of Justice and Corrective Services, while a drive to see increased numbers supporting Open and Championship Shows resulted in the then Canine Control Council of Qld (now T/As DogsQueensland) granting affiliation in 1993.  Since affiliation the Club is authorised to hold RR Specialty shows and to affiliate with the National Rhodesian Ridgeback Council (NRRC) allowing our members to have a voice within Queensland, Australia and the world.

Since its inception, the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Qld Inc. has strived to protect and promote our chosen breed in Queensland.

  • Rescue has been an important focus for the Club for over 30 years however, its formalisation into a sub-committee has seen RRCQ Inc Rescue become a major force throughout Australia actively assisting dogs requiring new homes.

  • The Club promotes the breed holding two specialty conformation shows a year (a Championship Show in June and an Open Show in September) and also participating in pet expos and charity events.

  • The Ridgie Rave newsletter is also a vehicle for promotion of the breed and support for all members activities – including conformation showing, obedience, agility, tracking, lure coursing, endurance trialling, jumping and simply owning a Ridgie.

  • The Club tries to hold educational fun-days throughout the year, welcoming all to the days that consist of educational sessions on health and other topics of interest, as well as great games that our four legged friends relish.

The Club welcomes all members new and old to actively participate and contribute to our wonderful Club to further our aims in protection and promotion of the breed we love.

Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the committee, all of whom are always willing to assist with any enquiries.
