Organisation type

Ark Aid provides free first class medical and surgical veterinary treatment for native wildlife in the Greater Darwin area.

Ark Aid has specialized wildlife hospital facilities and qualified vets, vet nurses and wildlife carers volunteer their time to treat native wildlife including native threatened species.

Ark Aid is run out of and supported by the Ark Animal Hospital in Palmerston. Our diverse and dedicated veterinary team and supporters are united by a deep passion for wildlife and conservation.

In addition to our main opening hours we provide a 24 hour on call emergency service and advice for native wildlife.

We have a proud history of successfully treating thousands of native animals each year. Treated animals include
– all bird species (also birds of prey and sea birds),
– mammals such as wallabies, possums, echidnas, sugar gliders, bats, dugongs
– reptiles and snakes
– sea and fresh water turtles.

Unfortunately we are unable to collect injured wildlife but we can however advise you on the best way to capture and transport an injured animal or bird to our clinic for treatment.
We work with Wildcare NT, Nina’s Ark, specialized wildlife carers and several government to ensure the best outcome and rehabilitation for our wildlife.
